Wet, frozen indecision
Drifting through the beam

Fallen leaves rattle
The shadows between
Lamp posts

The very last lap
Every breath is spent
The sun rises

Eerie morning path
Lit by headlamp’s light
Glowing cat’s eyes

Crunching leaves
Golden glowing
In the dark

Crisp morning air
And my own fog-drenched breath
Autumn elixir

Dim pre-dawn light
Led by autumn scents
Cool air on skin

Hop, skip, and run
Gather at the track to play
In a grown-up way

Birds, leaves, a flurry
Pinecones hurled to the ground
Wind’s fury
