Far above the snow

Bundled children
Running, chasing, digging in
Piles of laughter

A blur within
The white wind
Winter rabbit

Summer’s trail
Resting three feet
Below the snow

Sound of the plow
And of falling snow
Crunching underfoot

My thousandth haiku
And all I have to show is
An icy booter

Moment’s sunrise
Dancing through the treetops
Morning breath
