Over the esker
Through the poplar canopy
A plate full of food
Between sleep
And morning errands
Cool of the forest
Glowing pink orb
Rising behind the
Curves of the track
Today’s poem
Stretching out behind
The sun-lined cloud
The narrow trail
Towards the rising sun
Expanding
Chokecherry bushes
Stop to pick and refuel
Spitting out the pits
After forgetting
The feel of a blue sunrise
Smoke finally clears
Six lanes
And a sunrise painted
On the puddles
Morning in the woods
Missing only Goldilocks
And three porridge bowls
In every step
Memory of yesterday’s
Hill repeats
