To plot treachery

Dark clouds
At sunrise
Painted brightly

All the riches
Of the morning sky
In a puddle

Be ye friend or foe
Two appendages of white
Season’s welcome ghosts

Cracking ice
Punctures the silence
Of empty streets

Springtime songs of
Geese, larks, and robins
Fill the morning air

Just beyond
The ear’s reach
A meadowlark

The swift sound
Of running
Water
