In pink and orange and blue
Start of a new day

Each set of footprints
Music notes on the blank page
Record a new song

Try to catch
The vast and reaching sunrise
In a hand-held box

Out of the darkness
Runners silently appear
For morning prayers

Warming eastern sky
Waning crescent moon above
The frost-covered field

Imperceptible
Moment the day begins
The world come to life

Tracks in the fresh snow
Weave along the winding trail
Vanish in the woods

Caught flat-footed
Jack rabbit wearing white
On the brown grass
